Why does my ragdoll cat poo around the house?
July 16th, 2010
My year old ragdoll cat has a sensitive stomach and I feed him on gluten free cat food. He has two litter trays in quiet corners of the house which he uses and I regularly empty but he STILL poos on the floor around the house! How can I get him out of this horrible habit? I am fed up of cleaning up cat poo, it’s bad enough on the wooden floors but he poos on my carpet too!
Your cat may be ill. Improper elimination is often a symptom of a medical problem. These conditions are PAINFUL. So off to the vet!
Litter box problems are very frustrating for all…..human and feline. Here’s a link that you might find helpful:

Good Luck!
you need to find a different food for him. he is prob pooping bc he cant make it to the litter box.
gluten free is for diabetic cats, thats not the right food for him.
Some cats are just born with sensitive stomachs. Cats with Irritable Bowel Syndrome will suffer from diarrhea if fed normal cat food. Other cats vomit easily, causing frustration on the part of the owner. Try sensitive stomach formulas from your cat food vendor. These diets are made with egg protein, rice and oats in order to assist with digestion.
he doesnt kno better and hes probaly nervious
try putting his litter box in his favorite places of your house
and stat hitting him a bit so he knows hes doing wrong
but doent hit to hard or so much or he’ll learn to be mean and hate you
oh and give him little treats once he gets it right
Catch him at the right moment and move him immediately to the right place and he will soon learn.
1. His vision is bad.
2. He is sick.
or 3. He is ‘marking’ his house…
Maybe you should buy him a different brand of litter
its got the urge to splurge.
It could be a number of reasons…but questions need to be answered first:
1. How old is he?
2. Have you talked to the vet about this? There could be health problems that is making him do that.
3. How many animals do you have?
4. Do you have children?
5. Has anything changed in your life recently that would cause him to be upset? My Ragdoll Rags pooped in the middle of everyone’s bed when another cat was brought home.
6. How many litter boxes do you have? Do you have more than one cat?
There are many factors to be considered. I have a website all about Ragdoll cats – http://www.floppycats.com – you are welcome to contact me directly to discuss further.
