Cookie the Ragdoll cat

Status: terminated- upper respiratory infection From the TICA standards: Ragdoll cats grow large and heavy. Full maturity of color is not achieved until 2 years old and full weight and size is not expected for at least 4 years. The cat is firm and muscular with no fat except on the lower abdomen. Overall impression is of subdued power. Our Cookie is a genuinely nice cat who was picked up as a stray at the end of last year. Talk about subdued power, he craves your affection so much that if he thinks you are leaving too soon he might even hang onto you with his teeth. Not to worry, Cookie is an expert at this. He slowly applies pressure and stops before he does any damage. We believe Cookie is no older than one or two years.

That is not a Ragdoll. They dont come in black. That looks like a domestic cat.

I have to agree. Cookie is not a ragdoll – I have two of them. The green eyes told the tale. All purebred ragdolls have gorgeous sky blue eyes.

No, there are solid ragdolls, they are considered controversial though because they are not pointed and because a lot of people can claim to have a purebred ragdoll very easily.

I know that all “traditional” ragdolls have blue eyes, and are pointed, but SOLID ragdolls come in SOLID colors, and can have amber colored eyes.

Google it if you dont believe me.

Is this cat still alive? He looks so sad!
I rescued a cat just like him and had to give
him up(because my cat is too mean) He was a
doll and just got adopted by a wonderful family. I miss him so much! I had him 5 weeks and he really stole my heart – so loveable! I am hoping to visit him in the future.

Sadly, this lovely cat sneezed or came down with a sniffle. To avoid medicating every cat in the room, someone decided (as they always do) that the sick one had to go. Have you seen our current B&W cat named Andy Panda? He’s a winner. (Search under Steve0701)

I might add that upper respiratory infections are fiercely contagious in cats.

I will look up Andy Panda, and the next time
I am looking for a cat I will try one of these shelters 1st. I have a cat. I had to
give one up for a adpotion, a black & white ragdoll mix. He is in a great family now.My
resident cat would not accept him after a month.
I loved him, and still miss him so much

I fostered a sickly underweight kitten for a month and one of my 2 cats was afraid of it and would not come upstairs for the whole time. The other cat, who practices catch-and-release with mice, grew to love the kitten and started bringing it toys right before it got adopted. My lesson: Fostering is a nice option when a cat needs a home, but if you do it right, surrendering the foster can be emotionally difficult on the “parent” and on some of the animal companions in the house.

I wholeheartly agree with you regarding
the fostering. I only did it once and became
extremely attached to the cat. He was so
affectionate – looked alot like Cookie. But
he has a happy home now :)

Thank you. I could mention a few more of my favorite cats that were lost to the needle- it’s just heart-sickening. Meanwhile, breeders are making cats as fast as they can. Someone I know just spent $650 for a fancy cat. That means one less stray will be adopted.
